VisionIT plants seed money for T-LAB Las Vegas at City Impact

By | News and Events | No Comments

(Las Vegas, NV)

VisionIT has donated seed money toward the construction of a T-LAB (Technology Lab) at City Impact, a community outreach center, based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

T-LAB, founded by Dr. Clarence Nixon in Detroit, MI, is an innovative accelerated learning center for kindergarten to high school students. The center uses high end computers and interactive learning applications managed by educators and trained mentors in the focus areas of leadership, math, language (English and Foreign Languages), science, and technology.

With the incredible success of T-LAB in Detroit, VisionIT CEO David Segura saw the need to help spread Dr. Nixon’s vision to Las Vegas, Nevada. “I have seen lives changed by the T-LAB in the Detroit Area. City Impact was the perfect place with an existing strong support system of mentors and leaders who are helping families and young people in this community.”

City Impact Center is a community outreach center in the heart of Las Vegas that encourages, empowers and equips the people in the community to better themselves and their families. Because many of the children served come from single-parent households, one of City Impact’s primary functions has been to provide a safe haven for local children and teens to play, learn, and grow in a healthy, productive manner.

With the construction of the new T-LAB will come the implementation of proven programs and learning tracks leveraging technology to open new opportunities for the youth of Las Vegas.

Held at the Michigan State University Management Education Center in Troy, MI, the Access to Capital Panel, moderated by Comerica Bank, will take a closer look at different funding sources and business owners who accessed funding through various avenues.

“We are always looking for ways to engage a variety of business levels throughout the region, providing the necessary tools for growth, development, and ultimately, job creation,” stated Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO Sandy K. As a mid-size corporation, Segura will provide small business owners with a wealth of knowledge as he grew the company from $100.00, and speak to garnering funds from an angel investor to turn VisionIT into the global enterprise that it is today.

“I am excited to share my experiences to up and coming Detroit companies,” said Segura. “From startup companies to small businesses discovering how to manage growth and leveraging different avenues for funding are vitally important for on-going success.”
