VisionIT CEO a Recipient of Latino Magazine’s Vision in Business RAYOS Award

VisionIT’s CEO David Segura was honored by LATINO Magazine’s Vision in Business RAYOS award at the Hispanic Federation’s offices in Manhattan. Keynoted by Monika Mantilla, Founder and CEO of Altura Capital, the second annual luncheon honored three outstanding Hispanic national leaders.

The RAYOS awards or “rays of light” honor leaders chosen by LATINO Magazine, who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of endeavor and in the process have also given back to the community through inspiration, enlightenment and guidance.

“The RAYOS Awards recognize outstanding individuals that have given something significant back to the community and we at LATINO magazine are honored to salute Mr. Segura.” said Alfredo Estrada, Editor of LATINO Magazine.

VisionIT President Keynoted a Salute to Women IT Executives at HITEC Event

The Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) kicked off the series, Salute to Women IT Executives, at the HITEC Executive Summit, held on May 19th-21st at the Verizon Center in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Christine Rice, President of VisionIT was the inaugural speaker for the series sharing her journey and the mentorship she received from female executives in her earlier years. Future speakers will include Blanca Treviño, CEO of Softtek and Martha Poulter, Global CIO of GE Capital. The series began on Friday May, 20th, 2011 at the Dolce Hotel in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

“As a female executive in the technology industry I feel honored and compelled to speak to the challenges as well as the exciting impact that women can have on their corporations,” said Rice. “The Salute to Women series will encourage and mentor women in IT to strive to enter the board room.”

VisionIT CEO David Segura has been named as one of Hispanic Engineer and Information Technology Magazine’s Most influential Hispanics in Technology in their Spring 2011 issue. VisionIT has climbed over the years in becoming an IT industry leader, and David’s work as the founder and CEO continues to receive national visibility. Segura also serves as the Vice Chair of HITEC (Hispanic IT Executive Council) which focuses on the advancement and growth of Hispanics at the IT leadership level.

VisionIT President a Panelist at Michigan Minority Procurement Conference

VisionIT President Christine Rice was a distinguished panelist at the Michigan Minority Procurement Conference. The panel, sponsored by Ford Motor Company and the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC), was held on May 12, 2011 at COBO Conference and Exhibition Center in Downtown Detroit.

The panel was focused on developing and mentoring the next generation of leaders. More than 70 High school students were in attendance for “The Journey to CEO” presentation. Rice spoke about the experience that made her who she is today as well as questions about the marketplace and future initiatives.

“I thoroughly enjoy mentoring students who are eager to learn and want to realize their full potential,” said Rice. “While the conference was full of corporations in various industries, the tools and experiences that I shared are applicable across the board. I would like to thank the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council and Ford Motor Company for hosting the panel and asking for my participation. It was an honor.”

VisionIT President Keynotes Wayne State University Conference

VisionIT President, Christine Rice, delivered the keynote address at Wayne State University’s second annual College to Career (C2C) Undergraduate and Graduate Latino/a Studies Research Conference held on May 5, 2011 at the WSU Student Center Building.

The C2C program is focused on increasing graduation rates for students at WSU by connecting Chicano- Boricua Studies Scholars with established professionals. The program uses a multifaceted approach, combining career mentorship, community-based research and service-learning with professional development and graduate school preparedness, which helps to bridge the gap between the academic and professional worlds.

This conference showcased the university’s best undergraduate and graduate research projects with a focus on Latino/ Latin American Studies. It also allowed student researchers to share their work through panel and poster presentations.
