WDET-FM’s The Craig Fahle Show Features VisionIT President Christine Rice for “Powered By Women” highlight in DBusiness

VisionIT President Christine Rice was invited to the WDET 101.9 FM studios on July 31 – resulting from her recent selection as one of DBusiness Magazine’s “Powered by Women” – to share how she and other women have played key roles in businesses. R.J. King, author of the “Powered by Women” feature, which highlighted top female leaders in Detroit, also participated in the segment.

In the interview, Rice emphasizes the importance of fostering diversity in the workforce to embrace the differing experiences, viewpoints and cultures necessary to build a thriving business. She describes VisionIT’s focus on offering diverse candidates opportunities to excel, and therefore do more for the economy, stating, “You can’t do great things without great people, and they come in all shapes, sizes and sexes.”

VisionIT Highlighted in Crain’s Detroit Business on Employing Veterans Spotlight

VisionIT was featured in a Crain’s Detroit Business special report edition highlighting companies who are recruiting veterans. In the article, “Employers say vets have the skills, attitude they seek,” CEO David H. Segura describes why hiring veterans is good for business.

As quoted in the article, Segura remarks, “Clearly, what [veterans] bring is structured methodology to approaching challenges. They like process. Of the team members we have who have been in the military, that certainly stands out.”

The special report details the challenges faced by veterans seeking employment as they return to the workforce and the companies leading recruitment of veterans to enhance their businesses and services through veterans’ highly technical skill set and process-oriented thinking.

VisionIT Mentorship of Weldon Enterprise Global IT Highlighted at National Elite Service Disabled Veterans Conference in Las Vegas

At the 9th Annual Elite SDVOB National Convention, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the successful mentorship by Detroit, MI-based VisionIT of Weldon Enterprise Global IT was highlighted for an audience of business and governmental leaders, including a well-received video presentation, one-year after being inaugurated at the 2011 conference.

In the video feature, Weldon Enterprise Global IT CEO Markeith Weldon detailed the opportunity provided by VisionIT for his company to be housed within VisionIT’s Detroit headquarters and engaging in the commercial market space. Weldon also announced the company’s move into the government sector to train and place veterans into the workplace.

The collaboration began in 2011 with VisionIT’s CEO David Segura and Elite Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Network (SDVOB) Chairman Bob Mulz signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing took place at the 8th Annual Elite SDVOB National Conference in Chicago. In the memorandum, VisionIT committed to utilize members of the Elite SDVOB Network for subcontracting and prime contract opportunities in support of VisionIT’s existing and potential customers. Among those selected was Weldon Enterprise Global IT.

Said Weldon of the mentorship, “It’s been a significant growth experience that has allowed us, a minority service disabled veteran firm, to contribute to supporting companies in the Fortune 500 arena. We look forward to our success in the private sector translating to the governmental space as, and most importantly, getting our veterans back to work.”

The Elite Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Business Network is a Nationwide 501(c)(19) Veterans Organization with the mission of assisting Service-Disabled Veterans start and grow their businesses. VisionIT CEO David H. Segura joined other executive leaders in a panel discussion for the Freddie Mac 3rd Annual Supplier Diversity Showcase on Tuesday, July 17. The focus of the panel was “Innovation in Business – Alternatives and Success Stories.”

Segura shared his insight on VisionIT’s early years building innovative Web content management tools and groundbreaking technology for their customers. He also highlighted the importance of hiring the right people with the right expertise, acquiring expertise through partnerships and building expertise over time.

As examples, he discussed his expansion of VisionIT staff, a partnership with Fortune 1000 company Volt and how one can become a thought leader through tactical and strategic planning.

The panel was moderated by Ruben Sanchez of Freddie Mac and participating on the panel was Diana Mead, president of AllonHill, and Michael Bruce, CEO of InScope International.
