CEO David Segura Honored as Corp! Magazine Business Leader in Salute to Diversity Awards

Corp! Magazine selected VisionIT CEO David Segura as a Diversity Business Leader in its Salute to Diversity Awards, hosted at the MGM Grand Detroit on August 28, 2012.

The celebration marks the sixth year Corp! has honored companies, organizations and business leaders for embracing diversity and multiculturalism in business to drive creativity and innovation.

Segura is committed to advancing the role of minorities within IT, both within the community and within VisionIT. He is a founding member and former vice chair of the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) and was appointed in late 2010 by U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve on the National Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise.

VisionIT held its spot in the Top 3 of Crain’s Detroit Business’ largest “Hispanic-Owned Businesses” in Michigan, as ranked by 2011 revenues.

Revenues for VisionIT increased by 3.9 percent from $230 million in 2010 to $239 million in 2011. This year, the company is projected to generate $245 million in revenue as it continues to build upon its 985 internal employees and 3000 global consultants.

Crain’s Detroit Business’ “Largest Hispanic-Owned Businesses” list recognizes businesses from Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston counties, based on industry analyses and benchmarks, news reports and other sources. The companies are ranked by total revenue from 2011.

VisionIT President Christine Rice Selected to Receive DAPCEP “The Real McCoy Award” in Technology

VisionIT President Christine Rice was selected as the Technology Awardee for the first annual Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) Real McCoy Awards.

DAPCEP has impacted the lives of more than 150,000 youth with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in its 36 years. Rice will be honored at the organization’s August 24 event at DTE Energy Headquarters with four other individuals who were selected for exceling in the STEM or medical fields, setting a positive example for Detroit’s youth.

Presented by DTE Energy, The DAPCEP Real McCoy Awards are named after Detroiter Elijah McCoy (1844-1925), a mechanical engineer whose accomplishments and contributions paved the way for today’s leaders in STEM.

DAPCEP is a Detroit-based non-profit that provides state-of-the-art STEM programming to under-represented metropolitan Detroit youth in kindergarten through 12th grades. Along with its corporate and eight Michigan university partners, DAPCEP serves more than 4,000 students each year at no cost to its students.

Minority Business Entrepreneur magazine selected VisionIT and VisionIT CEO David H. Segura as its cover story feature for the July/August 2012 edition. Titled “Taking on the World,” the article details Segura’s early inspiration for VisionIT, the company’s tremendous growth into a multimillion-dollar enterprise and how VisionIT is positioning others to successfully engage technology.

In the feature, Segura explains VisionIT’s focus on the core areas of IT managed services, building and managing technology for Fortune 500 corporations, large government agencies.
