WHITE HOUSE REAPPOINTS DAVID SEGURA, FOUNDER AND CEO OF VISIONIT, TO KEY TRADE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
President Barack Obama announces intention to appoint Segura to an additional term as a member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations
Detroit, MI – Sept. 29, 2014 – Founder and CEO of VisionIT, David Segura, was reappointed to a second four-year term by President Barack Obama as a member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN). Segura founded VisionIT, a global leader in mobility solutions, IT managed services and talent management, in 1997 and was initially appointed to the ACTPN in 2010. The Advisory Committee is tasked with providing policy advice on trade matters, and is made up of members who broadly represent key sectors and groups of the economy.
President Obama commented on the appointment, stating, “These men and women have demonstrated knowledge and dedication throughout their careers. I am grateful they have chosen to take on these important roles, and I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come.”
As a key member of the Advisory Committee, Segura will advise the President and the U.S. Trade Ambassador, Michael Froman, on the country’s trade policies with global partners. The ACTPN was created by Executive Order in 1975 to provide guidance based upon the expertise and knowledge of its members.
“It is a true honor to be asked to serve my country once again as a member of this very important committee,” said Segura. “Looking ahead, I am excited to draw upon my experience as a previous member and in overseeing VisionIT’s extensive growth into foreign markets. I look forward to working alongside my fellow members to provide valuable advice that is so important to the economic health of our nation.”
Under Segura’s leadership, VisionIT has become one of the largest and most recognized minority-owned businesses in the United States and globally in Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico and the Philippines, Latin America, Europe and Asia. The company was recently named the 2014 Minority Exporting Firm of the Year award by the San Antonio Center of the Minority Business Development Agency. Segura has also served the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on the National Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise.
