JONI NELSON, VICE PRESIDENT OF HR FOR VISIONIT, NAMED 2014 TOP HR PROFESSIONAL BY MICHIGAN COUNCIL OF THE SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

Recognized for outstanding achievement in the field of human resource management and community leadership

Detroit, MI – October 21, 2014 – VisionIT’s Vice President of HR, Joni Nelson, is named top HR professional by Michigan Council of the Society for Human Resources Management (MISHRM) in recognition of her outstanding achievement in the field of human resources and community leadership. This is the inaugural year of the Top HR Professional Recognition contest by MISHRM, the leading voice for the human resource profession in Michigan.

The award is presented annually to individuals who exemplify the highest standards of the profession by promoting and contributing to the transformation of the HR profession in their business organization and in their community. Nelson received the award at the 2014 MISHRM State Conference this month.

She brings more than 31 years of human resources leadership experience at organizations such as, Ilitch Holdings, Inc., CDI Corporation, Inca Computer Company, Frontier Communications and Hardees Food Systems.

As an active community member, Nelson has served as past board chair for Mentoring Solutions/Winning Futures, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the impact of mentoring. She was recently awarded the Athena Award for Southeastern Michigan, given to women who have reached a high degree of professional excellence while also assisting women to reach their full potential.
